FAQ
A family of zinc creams, each with 25% non-nano zinc oxide as its single active. There's the original SPF 50, Kids SPF 50, Baby SPF 30, tinted Face and Anti-Ageing SPF 30 creams, and versions with tea tree oil and citronella oil.
The zinc oxide particles are bigger than 100 nanometres, the cut-off for a nanoparticle, so the zinc is classed as non-nano. Read more
Zinc creams can look pale to begin with. Soften a little on your fingertips and keep working it in. If you'd like a tint, Face and Anti-Ageing are tinted.
Only the water resistance printed on each cream's label applies, and it's in the label information on each product page. If a label doesn't give one, don't rely on it in the water. Either way, reapply after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
Both are rated high protection. SPF 50 suits long stretches outdoors; our SPF 30 creams suit everyday face wear and babies from 6 months.
Kids, Baby, Face, Anti-Ageing and the tea tree cream are vegan. Check each product's label information for the full ingredients.
Guide
What zinc oxide does, and how to choose and use a Pure Zinc cream.
Zinc oxide is a mineral sunscreen ingredient that protects against both UVA and UVB. In our Pure Zinc creams it's the only active ingredient, at 25% non-nano zinc oxide.
Start with Pure Zinc SPF 50 for faces and bodies, as a 100g air pump, a twin pack or a 240g family tube. Buying for kids from 6 months? Go Kids SPF 50 or Baby SPF 30. Want a tint on your face? Try Face or Anti-Ageing SPF 30.
Most people use too little. Cancer Council suggests around 35mL, about 7 teaspoons, for an adult's whole body. Warm the cream between your fingertips, apply to dry skin and rub in until it blends.
Cancer Council's SunSmart message still says it best: slip on clothing, slop on SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, slap on a broad-brimmed hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses. Avoid prolonged high-risk sun exposure, and protect your skin whenever the UV index is 3 or above. Frequent use and re-application, as directed on the label, is what makes sunscreen work.
