Product details
Pure Zinc SPF 50 is the cream Sun Zapper built around one active ingredient, 25% non-nano zinc oxide. It gives high protection from UVA and UVB on faces and bodies, in a cream with Kakadu plum, jojoba, sea buckthorn, marigold and chamomile. No parabens.
Three ways to buy it: the 100g air pump tube pushes out just what you need with no mess; the Twin Pack is two of those for less; and the 240g family tube is the better buy when the whole household uses it.
Suitable for grown-ups and kids over 6 months. Made in Australia.
Always read the label and follow the directions for use.
How to use
Put it on before you head outside, on dry skin, and don't skimp. Because it's rich in zinc it starts out thick: rub a dab between your fingertips to soften it, then work it in until it disappears.
Reapply every two hours, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying. Keep it out of your eyes. Suitable for grown-ups and kids over 6 months.
Always read the label and follow the directions for use.

How to apply
Zinc that goes on, and blends in.
All that zinc makes it a rich cream. Four habits make it easy to wear.
-
Step 1: Step 1
Soften it first
Dot some on your fingertips and rub them together for a moment. Zinc softened by body heat spreads further and faster.
-
Step 2: Step 2
Use plenty
Most people use too little. Cancer Council suggests about a teaspoon for each arm, each leg, your front, your back and your face (including neck and ears): around 35mL, or 7 teaspoons, for an adult's whole body.
-
Step 3: Step 3
Work it in
Do one patch at a time and keep going until you can't see it. The usual misses: ears, the back of the neck, the tops of the feet.
-
Step 4: Step 4
Go again
Reapply every two hours, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying. Shade, a broad-brimmed hat, a shirt and sunnies do the rest.

FAQs
Pure Zinc questions
What's in Pure Zinc SPF 50?
Its only active ingredient is non-nano zinc oxide, at 25% w/w. The cream also has Kakadu plum, jojoba, sea buckthorn, marigold and chamomile. You'll find the full ingredient list in the label information on this page.
Which size should I get?
Same SPF 50 cream in all three. The 100g air pump tube dispenses cleanly with no mess and less waste, and fits in a beach bag. The Twin Pack gives you two of them for less. The 240g family tube costs the least per gram if you're covering the whole family.
Can children use it?
Yes, from 6 months old. Babies younger than that should be kept out of direct sun, with shade, clothes and a hat doing the work. For little ones there's also Kids SPF 50 and Baby SPF 30.
Does it go on white?
There's a lot of zinc in it, so expect a pale sheen at first. Soften a little between your fingertips and keep working it in: it settles as you rub.
Is it water resistant?
Only the water resistance printed on the label applies, and it's in the label information on this page. If the label doesn't give one, don't rely on it in the water. Either way, reapply after swimming, sweating or towel drying. No sunscreen is waterproof.
Is the zinc nano?
The zinc oxide particles are bigger than 100 nanometres, the cut-off for a nanoparticle, so the zinc is classed as non-nano. What non-nano zinc means
How much should I use?
More than you think. Cancer Council suggests around 35mL, about 7 teaspoons, for an adult's whole body: a teaspoon for each arm and leg, your front, your back and your face, neck and ears.
Is it reef safe?
We don't use the term "reef safe", because there's no Australian standard for it. What we can tell you is exactly what's in it: the active ingredients and full ingredient list are in the label information on this page.
Where is Sun Zapper made?
Right here in Australia. We're an Aussie-owned company and we've been making zinc sunscreen at home since 1995.
