How to use it
Where it goes, and how
Solid zinc, right where the sun lands first.
-
Step 1: Draw it on
Wind up a little of the stick and draw a solid layer across your nose, cheekbones and ear tips, then anywhere else the sun hits first.
-
Step 2: Bold or blended
Leave brights and white as proper stripes. With a skin tone, feather the edge with a fingertip, but leave the layer thick: that layer is doing the protecting.
-
Step 3: Go again
Reapply every two hours, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying. Keep it out of your eyes.
Tip
Keep a skin tone for every day and a bright for the beach. Spread them around: beach bag, car, kit bag. Any 2 sticks save 10%.

FAQs
Zinc stick questions
Which colour should I choose?
White is the classic: you can see exactly where you're covered. Light Skin Tone suits fair to light-medium skin and Medium Skin Tone suits olive, tan and deeper skin, so they blend in. Pink, Blue, Green and Yellow are made to stand out. Compare the skin tone colours
Why a coloured zinc stick?
You can see where it's on and where you've missed, which makes it easier to keep a good layer on noses, cheeks and ears. And it's more fun to put on.
Has the Light Skin Tone stick changed?
Yes. It has a new formula made for time in the water, with a slightly softer, smoother feel than before, so you may notice it feels different.
Is Medium Skin Tone the same as the old Dark Skin Tone?
Yes. Same stick and colour, new name.
Do all the colours have the same ingredients?
Nearly. White and Medium Skin Tone have less zinc oxide, and Medium Skin Tone adds titanium dioxide. Each colour's active ingredients are in the label information on this page and on its stick.
Is it waterproof?
Nothing is waterproof, sunscreen included. It's rated 4 hours water resistant. Still reapply every two hours, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
Is zinc the only active ingredient?
No. Alongside zinc oxide it uses octinoxate and diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate. For a sunscreen where zinc oxide is the only active, go for Pure Zinc SPF 50.
Can kids use it?
Yes, from 6 months. Babies younger than that should be kept out of direct sun.
How do the mix & match savings work?
Mix any single zinc sticks: Extreme, skin tone, white or colour. Buy 2 and save 10%, 3 and save 15%, or 4 or more and save 20%. The saving comes off automatically at checkout. Value packs are already discounted, so they don't count towards it.
Is there a value pack?
Yes: the Rainbow Pack has pink, blue, yellow and green, and there are white and skin-tone mixes too. See all the packs.
What takes it off?
It's built to hang on, so water alone won't shift it. Rub in a cleansing oil or balm to loosen it, then wash with warm water and soap.
Where is Sun Zapper made?
Right here in Australia. We're an Aussie-owned company and we've been making zinc sunscreen at home since 1995.
